Social services have a fundamentally important social function with the mission of offering support and help to citizens in their most challenging moments, ensuring children's rights, and promoting social integration. In situations that require extra effort and resources, cooperation across municipal borders can prove to be of great importance. In addition to this, in a time of rapid changes in working life, continuous skills development and accessible education are increasingly crucial.
In an inspiring collaborative project between social services, health care, and disability, several municipalities have found a solution that not only makes digital education more flexible but also promotes cooperation and knowledge sharing across municipal borders. During the system introduction of Lifecare, which is operational support for social services, health care, and disability, the twelve municipalities Lidköping, Götene, Skara, Vara, Essunga, Grästorp, Tidaholm, Tibro, Hjo, Mariestad, Töreboda and Gullspång together with support from Göliska IT to standardize a joint education portal. The project's goal was to offer basic training materials that give users an overview of Lifecare's functionality, where each municipality is simultaneously given the opportunity to adapt the training and integrate it with its internal routines and processes. Project manager Elisabeth Nyström at Göliska IT believes that the future requires more cooperation across municipal borders, where a joint training package facilitates, among other things, considering the rotation of personnel that takes place between municipalities. This means that regardless of which municipality the staff works in, they have access to the same basic education.
Project manager Elisabeth Nyström further explains that the user response to the education portal has been positive. Staff have expressed their appreciation for the portal's simplicity and clarity, where divided sections make it easy to find relevant material. The training material is not only for the staff during the introduction of Lifecare but also serves as a daily support to return to for further training when needed. The journey here has not only been easy, but it has been a challenge to go from analog to digital education.
The twelve cooperating municipalities have implemented a concrete strategy to improve social services, care and welfare, health care, and disability. Its work to standardize and make the education portal available it is a good example of how cooperation across municipal borders can improve and streamline daily work. The portal not only saves time and resources but also gives staff the chance to be trained in a coordinated environment.
