Ensuring that knowledge is communicated effectively within an organisation is a challenge that many face. Humans have different ways of taking in information; some learn best by seeing and hearing, while others prefer reading or hands-on experience. In addition, our preferences differ regarding how we want to learn - some appreciate formal, timed training opportunities, while others prefer more flexible and independent learning.
When the municipality of Uddevalla recently organized CPR training for its preschool staff, it became clear how important it is to have a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills - in this case, a skill that can save lives. By using InfoCaption's tool to organize physical course sessions, the municipality was able to meet the training needs in a well-organized way. With the "Physical courses" function, the training opportunities were managed and administered in InfoCaption, which made it easier for both administrators and participants. In addition to a summary of the course content, there was a clear description of where the course would be held as well as the time and date, with the possibility of offering several different occasions.
There are clear advantages to digital education - they offer flexibility and accessibility that many appreciate. While digital tools are important, physical courses play a critical role in ensuring that participants truly master the technique, especially in courses such as CPR where hands-on training and physical presence are essential. Digital sessions can prepare participants well for a CPR course, but it is the practical exercises that provide the confidence and competence required in real emergencies.
Digital and physical education do not have to be mutually exclusive. They can complement each other to create a more effective learning experience. By combining digital preparation, such as theoretical sessions and knowledge tests, with practical on-site exercises, it is ensured that participants not only understand the theory but can also apply it in real-life situations. This approach can be particularly valuable in courses where practical skills are important.
Uddevalla municipality's work is an excellent example of how you can combine digital and physical educational elements to create a safe and effective learning environment. Their work shows the importance of not rationalizing away physical education, especially in areas where practical skills are essential. We believe their work can inspire other organisations to see the value in this combination and thereby contribute to learning.
Uddevalla minicipality receives the Guide of the Month award.
Every month we at InfoCaption appoint the Guide of the Month - a guide that we want to highlight a little extra because of the value it creates in the organization. As a thank you to the person(s) who created the Guide of the Month, we donate SEK 1,000 to the organization Hand in Hand Sweden, which fights poverty by creating more jobs in vulnerable countries. Hand in Hand works with the "help to self-help" model, which aligns with InfoCaption's mission "to make it easier for employees to help each other".
